Books

Lost Women of the Bible

By Carolyn Curtis James

This is a great read for women looking to find out more about minor female characters in the Bible. There is also a lot of comfort in seeing similarities in issues that women struggled with then and still do in present day.

Practice of Godliness

By Jerry Bridges

This is a good read to both Christian men and women. It speaks about the devotion we must first have for God and then how to train ourselves in the facets of godliness to arrive where God wants us to be. I mainly liked this book because it’s practical and Bridges definitely has the opinion that we must constantly be in training for what is to come.

Strong Women, Soft Hearts

By Paula Rinehart

This book is probably the best book I’ve read this year. It speaks directly to women about the good, bad and ugly that takes up residence in our hearts and how to deal with all of it. I thought it was encouraging and very realistic. It has quotes that spoke to me at the beginning of every chapter and also has questions at the end of every chapter to reinforce main ideas. It’s a must-read.

The Signature of Jesus

By Brennan Manning

This book, like his others, is a reminder that we as Christians aren’t about “religion” but rather about a faith that is really unexplainable. Manning has a sincere attitude in convincing others that the race is worth the prize.

Disciplines of a Godly Man

By Kent Hughes
