Grace for the journey

While I was gone yesterday mom had several visitors...maybe one too many. By nightfall mom was  experiencing  a lot of pain again. It continued into the night along with vomiting and acute headaches. It was hard to see her go from being semi comfortable to a 10 out of 10 consistently through the night. She went for another CT Scan at 2 a.m. since she wasn't sleeping and the pain had increased. It was a scary night watching her in so much pain and not able to alleviate it. She received extra doses of morphine this morning and was still asking for relief.  The neurosurgeon came in about 7:30 and said that the CT Scan looked 100 times better than the previous day. The blood clots are dissolving which is a HUGE praise. It was encouraging and at the same time disconcerting that her pain has increased significantly despite the results. She has received a much higher dose of all pain medication today and exchanged a dosage schedule for a pump that she can regulate herself. The doctor explained that blood on the brain serves as an irritant and creates the bad headaches. We won't know how long the headaches will last at this point. She also has a black eye from all the blood in her brain just as an injury would create bruising. She seems just beat up from the fall. We are still waiting on the hospital security to verify surveillance So on this cold day I am in a dark, quiet room content to be here watching her sleep and counting my blessings. Please keep praying. We are believing in complete healing.
