A Boat Ride in the Beni

The Beni is the wetland, Amazon-like area of Northern Bolivia. It's also known for being the home to Bolivia's poorest people.

A family who invited us for breakfast of cow brain and cow tongue - a traditional breakfast for this part of Bolivia.

The gang leaving to get to the river via SAMAIR. Above are pictures of the hangar in Trinidad, a small town in the Beni where we left our cars.
SAMAIR pilot Greg Dahl and friend John.

Above and Below: Our wooden yacht, which we called "home" for a week

To start the motor of our yacht, it took an 8-man crew pulling a rope wrapped around the engine. Not an easy task!

First sunrise on the river. Nothing short of majestic.

This is one of the port towns, Bella Flor, where we stopped to do evangelism and medical attention.

Greg and Placido boiling river water for drinking - no filters here.

Placido's dream boat for the next Beni Trip - a step up
from the wooden yacht.

A unique landmark I captured on the way home from Trinidad.

The road home.
